I've always liked making things and art in general. I made my artwork the way I did because it's stuff I like or it shows what type of person I am. I really wanted to make things that I would actually like in the end and not regret doing something else. some examples of tools/materials used in my artwork are acrylic paint, pastels, rolling pin, water colors, charcoal, clay, brushes, knives, and a couple other things. I really like basing my art on the world and nature and that's really what inspired most of my pieces. Overall I really enjoyed being able to do these projects in an actual art class.

Earth art is pretty much anything that you make with nature and that's natural. My artwork might have been one of the most common earthworks but I really like them so I decided to do one. Something that I found difficult was finding rocks that would stay on top of eachother. at first I wasn't exactly sure where I was going to do it but then we passed over jordan lake and the water was really low so I decided to do it there.
1.) The most successful print in my opinion was the Relief Print. You are supposed to first, carve out or cut out a design or a word (if you do do a word you need to make sure to cut it out backwards so that when you transfer the image, it comes out normal) and then you use an ink plate to put some color down. You can make the colors however you like. Next you would use the the brayer that you mixed the colors with to roll over your cutout. once you are done with that all you need to do is lay a piece of paper on top and push down on it and flatten it. I thought this was the best one because of its simplicity and how nice my prints came out.
2.) I would've liked to have done the monoprinting over. Here what you do is, put ink on an ink plate and spread it all over it and then you edge out a design that later you put a piece of paper over and smooth out with a baren. I wish I would have known better and put less ink on the ink plate before I made my design because once I smoothed it on and lifted it, it came out looking like a giant blob. 3.) I personally really enjoyed the screen printing. What you have to do is, first (what I found most difficult) you need to think of an idea you want to draw out on paper and cut out. Then once you have cut out your design, you put some tape on the edges and tape it onto a screen printer. Finally you just find some paint you like and scrape it on the opposite side if the screen printer. I thought this was a pretty sweet technique and it gave me great results. |
